Why would anyone bother with an on-line poll?
There is no information collected about the respondents.
They are all self-selected.
The poll allows multiple votes (I voted, to see).
The originators of the poll are quite likely to have a 'preferred' outcome. Some of those are dishonestly modified to dismiss un-desired votes. Others are merely 'disappeared' when the result does not match hopes. And when neither of those two things happen, the originators hand-wave the results away as 'non-scientific' - as well anyone should.
However, when the results meet expectations, they are trumpeted and held to be Gospel, 'non-scientific' objections being dismissed.
On commercial sites, such polls are 'click-bait' - they use page views and sell your 'eyeballs' to advertisers. Participating in polls on those sites is making a small contribution against interest.
