PayPal 2nd Amendment Subterfuge

It has come to my attention that PayPal has chosen to undermine the 2nd Amendment. They will not allow their service to be used for the purchase of firearms or ammunition and are currently embroiled in a lawsuit over wrongfully freezing the accounts of those caught doing so.
Has anyone else heard this?

politically correct hammer from ebay? paypal was just as strict before they were bought by ebay. in fact a number of rules that prevented me from doing certain kinds of business were lifted because of the ebay purchase. at least ebay forced them to hire better customer service reps and actually honor their agreements as oppossed to simply closing accounts and siezing funds on the whims of sneaky buyers that wanted refunds despite having recieved their items.

Also, I don't see it stated in the user agreement that firearm purchases are not allowed. They do, on the other hand, include firearms as exempted from the money-back guarantee because they're considered dangerous goods in terms of shipping.

You may not use PayPal in the purchase or sale of any firearm. This includes all rifles, shotguns, and handguns, whether for use in sporting, as collectibles, or curio and relic (C&R) firearms, and regardless of their present working order.

But it's still old news.

ah ok. either way, they're a private company that doesn't want to be held liable for lawsuits. I highly doubt there's any political motivation behind this - it's about running a business, not subverting a right.

With Ebay based in California, I doubt they've much of a choice. Between various conspiracy codes and the clarity (cough) of CALDOJ and BATFE rulings, I could picture interesting developments if a 15 round mag was "facilitated" by Ebay's payment service. Tracking bidders locations to Xref the ATF's "State Laws..." handbook would be a nightmare.

Still, there's nothing on this planet I want bad enough to use paypal to conduct the transaction.

Free markets being what they are, Gearpay seems to have jumped into the void. I'll be watching - I'm too nervous to be the first on my block. Thread here.

Can you imagine how difficult it would be for ebay to comply with the various gun laws seeing as how they are an international auction site?

I wouldn't want to deal with that either.

Read the use agreement for Pay Pal. According to the terms therein, they can do pretty much whatever they want with impunity, including freezing your access to your money.

Take a look at www.paypalsucks.com for the latest in the ongoing PayPal war.

Sorry

Did not realize this was old news to so many. I did not realize that PayPal had this policy until recently. I do realize that they are a private company that has the right to dictate policies at will and that this is not likely politically motivated (or is it?) but I find it unacceptable that they can freeze your access to your money and I dislike that they dictate what you can purchase with your money.
