Pawn shop Ruger

When I say "LNIB" I also say... NOT FOR SALE. THIS ONE IS MINE!

This pistol dates to 2002 and is just like I would get it new from a Gun Shop.

I know, "accuracy issues"... Well I will either confirm or debunk that as soon as I get to shoot it. Gotta work for a couple three days before I'll get the chance.

$220 plus tax.

I was talking to a buddy of mine, kind of gloating about all of the "like new" pistols I find in pawns, and he wisely pointed out that "most people aren't like you... They buy a gun and never hardly shoot them - if at all."

True.

I hate it when he is smarter than me.

Nice, very nice and you will be very happy with it.

When I got back into shooting my first purchase was a P-97, and I still have it.

Well, it may be LNIB but it's obvious that someone has done something with it because it was not shipped with those Hogue grips. :p

Here's a tip on the P-series guns, make sure those grips do not interfere with the trigger bar/connector. I put a set of Pach's on my P-90 and it simply would NOT work (and these grips were very specifically made for the pistol!) until I removed the grip and did a good bit of fine trimming with an X-acto razor blade to ensure the grip would not interfere with that linkage.

Good input, Sevens...

Ok. I'll keep an eye on that.

What I meant was... A like new gun with like new aftermarket grips.

Appreciate the heads up!

Great series of guns, and congrats on a great find! Accuracy Issues?? Not that I know of, ruger P-series are very accurate in my opinion. They shoot as well as the person holding them

I have one with those Houge grips and it works fine. Sad to see they go for so little. Worth so much more than that to me. I will never part with mine. I did drop a p95 trigger and springs in it. Made a great difference in the trigger. Google that one. Nothing like the feel an all metal 9mm!

nice find, although bulky and he safeties are a little "blah", I would have to say if I had to own a Pseries ruger, it would have to be a P89. I never have heard claims of accuracy issues with Pseries. I always heard people knocking them because they were heavy, capacity wasn't the greatest, and Ruger couldn't seem to make up their mind about whether they wanted metal or plastic frames. in the end I've learned to ignore general claims and make decisions for myself.

I just put my 89 in the safe a few days ago. I'd been taking it to the range as my "in between" shooter this summer. Accurate, reliable, and easy to shoot.

There were some versions (IIRC) that shipped with the Hogue finger groove grips. (Don't care for them myself, nor the factory hard plastic grip panel. I eventually found a set of Uncle Mike's checkered rubber grips.)

If it's in fact NIB, the guide rod will be unmarred. They scuff up with use pretty much immediately.

Ruger couldn't seem to make up their mind about whether they wanted metal or plastic frames.

<shrug>. Metal through the P94, plastic thereafter. Not so strange.

The first centerfire pistol I ever bought was a stainless P89DC. I had it for a few years and sold it to my best friend. I needed the money to finish a 340 for my Duster... ahhh, those were the days. I tried for years to buy it back, but he wouldnt sell it back to me, so I bought a P95 to replace it. I have since shot both, my original P89, and my P95 side-by-side. The P95 has an edge in accuracy. Both are dead nuts reliable. The P89 is a tank. Its certainly one of the best pistols for the money ever available. I have thought about buying another P89, just for nostalgia sake, but I do have a P90DC, and I guess I dont need another 9mm.

Great price on a very good pistol. Enjoy

When I was much younger I lusted after several Rugers that were fairly cheap at the time. Somehow or another a Sig got in the way of closing the deal on one.

Nice, looks like my first handgun purchase years back. Liked that little gun just fine, but dumped it for something with a less... spongy... trigger. I had issues with keeping rounds on target. A symptom of the trigger and me learning to shoot handguns.

Sold it to family and the new owner loves it still.
