Patterns of 00 Buck vs 000 Buck?

Any experience out there in terms of the patterns of 00 Buck and 000 Buck? The gun that I will use (when I get some time :p ) is an improved cylinder 18" 870 Police. I have three different loads: 12 pellet 00 Buck, 9 pellet 00 Buck and 8 pellet 000 Buck. Just wanted some feedback so that when I do it I will have something to compare it to...thanks. ;)

Fair enough...I just didn't know if there were any patterns amongst the patterns of different loads...pun intended.:p

Mathman, I can tell you from my experience with my gun, that the Federal 3" Premium 000 buck give me the best pattern of any load I have tried. I'm shooting an 11-87 with a 26" ported barrel and a Patternmaker choke tube. I have been trying to find a fairly long range buckshot load and the Federal is it for me.

Thanks. I've been following a discussion elsewhere on the use of Buck and Ball (undefined, but usually taken to mean one large ball, maybe .68, and three buck shot) in the American Civil War. The prevailing view is that all four projectiles would be on target (advancing battle line) at 100 yards. I can't seem to find any modern data on this stuff but it seems that the buck shot would be veering off in all directions. Not even close to modern buck shot in accuracy.

12 Pellet 00 buckshot is the most effective anti-personal load available inside 50 yards (with the proper choke). My favorite flavor of this round is the Winchester XX supreme copper plated round. This round launches the 12 pellets at almost the same velocity as the 9 pellet loads (Chronographed it) and it has more energy than anyother 2 3/4" buckshot load. It even has more energy than many 3" buckshot loads while giving you the capacity of the 2 3/4" shells. Three more 00 pellets really help a lot. This is also an excellent hunting round.
