Patriot .45

Not to be a smart-aleck, but...

has anyone ever bought one? I've never seen one on a dealer's shelf or in anyone's hands at the range. I do know that they supposedly gave a few away in the monthly Shooters sweepstakes.

I've seen a couple at local shops. ALMOST popped for one at a show last winter. Was around $200. Like DAO .45 with double strike capability.

Republic Arms Patriot

Some time back the Patriots were in short supply. Then they became available through dealers listed on Republic's webpage. They don't seem to be in gun shops or at gun shows, but they can be ordered through a dealer. That's how I got mine.

I have shot my all-black Patriot about five times. I have had ejection problems, but now that I am making sure that my arms are more rigid, these probelms have declined. The powerful .45 round in such a small, light firearm requires good recoil resistance by the shooter.

I like the pistol very much and think it is an excellent value at around $200 or $220 before taxes and shipping. It seems to be strongly made and is very comfortable in the hand. It is what a Kel-Tec .45 would be if Kel-Tec made one.

I got mine in Dec of 1999 for about $220 if I remember correctly. Great little gun for the money. It is a handful to shoot but not too bad. Lots of guys on the Kel-Tec list bought them. Many others mentioned they would if the Patriot had a slide lock. Lack of a slide lock hasn't bothered me.

Goin to a show tommorrow. If I can find a black on black one I'm gonna buy. When I walk my little mutt , he challenges every stray around. Need a big caliber low price dog walkin pistol. I shoot n carry a Colt Officers so with a little more concentration I can master Patriot recoil.

Don't spend too much, popeye...

'cause after you have to pop someone else's aggressive non-leash-wearing canine, you'll probably have to surrender your weapon to the MAN. Wouldn't want that OM to end up in the evidence locker.;)
