Patriot .45 best ammo in your experiance

I just bought a Patriot .45 at the suggestion of a member here and was wondering what fodder it likes best. I am hoping that those of you who have one of these little sweeties can help me out.

Mine certainly likes ball, both lead and FMJ, but due to limited funds I can not afford to buy lots of different brands of HP to test them out properly right now. So I'll cheat a bit and ask you guys first and then test your recommendations.

I understand that this is not a target pistol but designed for up close and personal (although it is not shabby despite its bad sights and heavy trigger) so I am not testing for extreme accuracy, just extreme reliablity.

I like and trust Remington Gloden Saber 185+P. This is a very popular round, especially in the smaller barreled 45's. Because of it's popularity it's more available in stores.
If I had a second choice it would be CorBon's +P's.

Here's a site for Collins Cartridge Company. They make new ammunition(Not Reloads) with Gloden Saber bullets. I buy their GS 185 JHP for practice shooting.
$13.50 for a box of 50 or $130 for 500 http://www.cccammo.com/

If your at work turn your speakers down. The site opens with a gun blast.

You MUST test out your carry load extensively in your own gun. What works in mine may not work in yours.
Theres a whole slew of good ammo out there. Federal "Personal Defense" is what I carry because it has an excellent feed profile and I've never known it to jam in any gun - its also "relatively" inexpensive and I can afford to shoot it regularly.
Theres a lot of more expensive semi-custom ammo out there also - Triton, Cor-Bon, Glazer, etc. Spendy stuff, but excellent ammo.
Don't even consider accuracy, look for an ammo that shoots to point of aim. A 5" group at the top of your sights is better than a 1" group a foot high. Try different bullet weights until you find the ammo that shoots to point of aim. Thats one of the reasons I like the Personal Defense - it comes in two weights, 165 and 230 grains. The 230 grainer hits higher than than the lightweight and its likely that one of these will hit where you want it.

When you test, limp wrist your pistol, shoot it sideways - try and make it jam. Shoot plenty of the ammo you choose and make sure its absolutely reliable.

I use the Federal Personal Defense ammo as well, and agree with Keith's advice. I have a Commander, not a Patriot.
