Pat Tilman's family speaks out....

Talk radio informed us today that the Pat Tilman Family has spoken out against the U.S. Army. The report said the family is very upset with how the U.S. Army reported the story of Ranger Pat Tilman's death. The Army didn't report the true story and everything from then on, has went down hill. Pat, the former NFL, Arizona, Cardinal left pro football to serve his country with his brother. Pat was killed by friendly fire in a Afghanistan last year. The family has said the way the Army had told the story is a disrespect to Pat's service, honor and memory. I for one would agree with that statement.

With a little smart action on the Army's side they will make a full apology and get all the factual details out before the media gets a new wildfire going out of control. I think the Army had good intensions but made a huge mistake in the way they handled the story back at the time of Pat's death.

Friendly fire loss is one unforturnate side of war. Pat Tilman is as much a brave warrior and hero in my eyes with the updated information as he was the day he died in the service of our great nation....

Bravo for his family speaking out. It's getting pretty tiring witnessing truth daily becoming more and more of a rare commodity; a casualty in our modern times. Our political leaders, our clergy, our military, our media...who's next???

Heard this myself from Al Rantell (sp) monday morning . I tried to call but never got through and soon reached the terminal so my cell phone saw no more action . I don't talk on the phone in the rig . I wanted to tell him that when I was in the Army we were considered "subject to wants and needs of the Government". If our picture was taken during training it could be used for publicity purposes or just about anything else . The big problem with his lawyer father making a stink is that it opens a door . If he is successful then the next problem is from some guy that claims his son did not get enough artillary support . When Pat joined up he gave up all rights and priveledges . This should extend to his family . I have an old friend that kinda disappeared after being spoken to by a couple of CIA types . They say he died on a mission that paralled one we had gone on several months earlier . The facts were scarce and his family never did know what happened . Bottom line . He's DEAD !!! All that can come of this is to damage the Governments abilities to utilize VOLUNTEER personnel as they see fit . This includes the facts of their death . The Tillman family now knows what happened . Is the father running for public office while standing on his sons' casket ?? This sounds too self serving . I have a similar story about telling a family how their son died . The truth did not work too well in that case .

I agree "factually" with Paratrooper. They do serve the wants and needs of the military. Unfortunatly we have a military that directly reflects the Govt. in ambitition and ethics. Namely none. I've been around for a while now. What I've seen through the years is that no matter what form of an established beaurocrocy, be it civil, private or cleric. honesty and integrity is accidental. I have no idea whether to attribute this to the "herd" mentality or the fact you can hide behind the "corporate structure" and thereby get away with murder. I'm sure Pat Tillman was screwed through and through. I'm sure the Govt. is lying through it's "teeth". What his folks do now is up to them. I wouldn't doubt some of them to make a little hay in the process. Happens all the time. Needless to say Tillman is nothing short of an absolute hero. They should put his picture in the dictionary. I wouldn't do what he did. Wouldn't think of it. I've got two nephews in the military, one in the marines on convoy duty in Iraq. Do I think he's a hero , you bet. Do I think that war is a fat lie, you bet. I am a , voting conservative repulican, church going catholic christian, invested in the stock market. I love America, not my govt. I love my church, not the bunch of corupt bishops that are run it. I love the free market capitalist system, not the crooks that exploit it. God help us all.

Your so very right............ Well said..............Thanks for putting these words here........ We wish your family members a safe and fast return..... We all thank them for the service they give to our nation.....

I agree with trooper on most things........... and the few I don't I won't argue with.... I can tell those responding to this topic are all great Americans that I consider very similar in soul and heart as I do myself.......

Thanks.......... ;)

while Pat Tillman was certainly a brave and courageous American, he was no more brave and courageous than any other soldier fighting in iraq, where are the stories about those men and women?

is anyone really surprised that there was a coverup? the whole war is a sham, we were lied to about the reasons for this war. are we any safer now than we were before when saddam was in power? NO. our open border policy is a much bigger threat to Americas security than that jackass ever was.

I don't ever recall saying all of our brave men and women in uniform services of this nation were anything less than hero material. Let me say it again just in case that was not clear. I think every last one of them in the Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy and Coast Guard.... Active, Reserve and National Guard.... They are what Websters should define a hero as.

Now with all respect I hope the thing is locked up and shut down........... Seems that it was a nice topic for a few days but the last two have soiled it. Free nation and freedom of speach so ........there it is

Please locker up...........................thanks

sorry..........my fault

I should have thought it out more............long day at work bad day with the wife and the dog thought about growling at me......... ;) but I beat him to it............... Yep, the media has started to naw at my insides too. They are trying to stir up the darn thing about the military flushing the Muslim holy book again too....... I guess if the press can't find a story they will make one. The sad thing is the info on that story was gathered from an enemy combatant against the United States. That means the media is willing to take an enemy's word and run a story with it. Wow, we sure have come a long way with the freedom of the press.

As far as Pat being killed by his own troops as being anything other than a huge mistake and accident under stress of combat........ Well, I need major proof of that one before I would ever begin to speak that line. Interesting thought but Frank and I are night and day on that idea...... ;)

Got an update tonight on the Koran flushing . The complainant now claims that he "heard" about it . Thank you Snooke weak for all your "help" in this matter . The truth is coming out now . You can go back to Ted Kennedys office for further orders .

My Grandfather once said......as many others have too.............

Anything is possible...

I would gather that the friendly fire incident involved enough Rangers that had your idea been actual, someone might have spoken up by now. If not and it is true, I would bet in short order - time will open that sore. I hope and pray your as wrong as I am 99% sure you are. I hold nothing personal to the idea but I sure as heck hope if it were true, we would have known by now if this was a hit on Pat. I just can't see it that way. I give the Ranger's a lot more credit than killing their own and all covering it up. Even if someway the CIA had anything to do with it. I just don't see a group like the Ranger's all falling sheep to the CIA. Sure I can agree they have a few rare agents that could carry out something like that for reasons unknown. I just don't see it being a murder. Like I said I will hold that 1 percent idea but I am putting my check on your idea as being wrong..... Call me ignorant but that is my stand..... I hope someday we get a full and true story from the entire group of Ranger's that were there. It may be 15-20 years but if that is what it takes I will still be listening.....

Sure enough, the real disrespect is not of Tillman, but of every other service person who apparently isn't sacrificing nearly as much as Tillman, whether they have been killed or not.

Personally, I don't care if Tillman gave up a pro football career or not. Everyone who has joined the currently military gave up something to be there and did so voluntarily. Whether a person gave up McDonald's or the NFL does not matter. It was their choice.

Personally, while it is billed a hugely courageous and patriotic on the part of Tillman to give up football and join the military, personally it sounds like a very bad decision. Because the real risk of the decision came true and he died, the decision turns out to be that much worse. And so for such events, we raise him to the martyr level at a great American hero and yet we completely blow off the majority of the rest of the soldiers who have died in Iraq because they were not rich or famous.

Just how many deceased soldiers names do you remember and for how many do you remember what job they held and where before joining the military?

exactly.

I happen to know 2 troops that gave their lives...... One was a young fella from my hometown and the other was a nearby village. Due to respect of family and friends of these fallen I will hold their names. Both were fine young men and were in the military for a number of reasons. Tradition, education and love of country and service are just some of the key attributes. The last count was+54 from the Great Lakes State. That is a huge number if I would say so. According to history this conflict has minimal loss if stacking up numbers with other wars. I don't like looking at it as a math statistic. These were fine people willing to serve and give all they had. I wish I knew more of these men and women but how heavy to one's heart could that be? My prayers and thoughts go on to the family and friends of all these lost Americans.
