I just got back from a BC moose hunt where I passed up a close shot at a large black wolf. There was plenty of time, but the guide and I were about 150 yards from our set up spot for the evening hunt which a shot would have ruined. We had seen a bull enter the woods there in the morning. We were going to try to call him in. Nothing showed.
I know I may come to regret not taking the shot as it was probably a once in a lifetime opportunity, but I was more interested getting a moose at the time. As it was, I shot a bull the next morning. On the way out we looked where we had been calling and there was a monster bull. He must have come after dark to our calling.
