Partition vs Interlock

Does anybody think that a Nosler Partition will out penetrate a Hornady Interlock by any MEANINGFUL amount? ( assuming all else is equal- same caliber, velocity at impact etc)

There are so many other questions.

Penetrate through what medium (tissue, concrete, water?)
At what velocity?
What caliber/weight of bullet?
Are we comparing apples to apples, or apples to oranges?

That said, the Partition has long been held as a premium hunting bullet. It's been around for a long time and is an industry standard. The Interlock is also a great bullet.

Partitions will always penetrate more that Interlocks, given your conditions. Interlocks will be explosive with impact velocities over 3000fps. The difference is the design of the Partition.

Nosler Partitions vs Hornady Interlock is easy, Nosler wins. The Interlock is a slightly weaker design. Both will perform well on medium size game such as deer and black bear. You will likely not see a difference in performance. If you step up to elk, moose or the great bears the Nosler Partition will out perform the Interlock. However if you want to use Hornady then check out the Hornady Interbond. It is a bonded core bullet, which makes it stronger than the Interlock. It may also out perform the Nosler Partition in penetration. In the Interbond the jacket is bonded to the core and it stays intact when it hits bones and heavy hide. The Partition is not bonded and there have been reports of the front lead core seperating from the jacket on large game. If the core seperates the bullet looses weight and momentum that is critical for penetration. The Partition is still an excellent choice but somewhat better choices exist for larger game.

Also the Interbond line of bullets are all boat tail and have better B.C. than the square base Partition, giving better trajectory, all else being equall. If I had to choose Partition or Interlock, Partition. But there are so many good bullets to choose from..... I would pick the one that shoots the best group in my gun. Yours may be different.
