Part of the reason...

I think that part of the reason for the "Dynamic" style raid is to remind the American people NOT to mess with the federal government. It just reinforces the level of fear and paranoia about the possibility of "THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU IF YOU DON'T STAY IN LINE!!!"

Look at the quieting effect that the Ruby Ridge and Waco massacres had on formerly vocal people. A lot of people started to keep their heads down and their opinions to themselves after that. I'm ashamed to say that I may be guilty of that too. The thought that my family may get a mid-night visit is enough to make my knees shake. Win, lose, or draw. On a deal like that, you will lose.

Rick, in my darkest of hearts, I had hoped that the Cuban community would riot. I wanted
somebody to stand up to the government, and make a statement. As I thought about that idea, I realized that I wanted somebody _else_ to stand up. After that, I didn't feel too good about myself.

As the day has progressed and I've been listening to talk radio, the fact that is becoming more distressing is that the American people basically don't see anything wrong with the way the feds took the boy. That is scary.

Now, the headline on Drudge says that the Unjustice Dept. is petitioning the court that it wouldn't harm the boy if he's returned to Cuba. What do you want to bet that the poor kid is being drugged and brainwashed as we sit here.

My blood pressure hasn't been this high and my spirits this low since April of '93

I think I'll go hug my son now.

Rick and Dick, thank you for echoing my feelings for the past couple of days. I am new to this posting stuff as well as activism. Two weeks ago I wrote to SAF,GOA,NRA and JPFO asking them to meet and develop a combined strategy to fight for our rights. Aaron from JPFO was the only one who responded and invited me to join. I will send some money but I'm not convinced that is the answer. The groups seem bent on fighting with each other. I am a preparer. When (if) they outlaw gun ownership and come for mine,if I have time to get my family out of harms way they won't find me hiding in a closet with my son, unarmed. Be vigilant,be prepared and look for like minds. I too feel the shame of fear of the sheep and the powers that be. Where I draw the line is here in my back yard. I just wish I had bigger toys..Bless you both for your thoughts. Ken

Interestingly enough, i was talking with my father today...

after the recent Paramilitary raid on unarmed civilians in Miami and the recent Handgun Ban in Massachusetts, my father, enrageded, decided to register and vote, for the first time in his life, 56 years...

Somewhat late, but i'm happy he has finally come around.

(Love my Dad.)

I talked with our secretary at the office about this and she said that when she first saw it she thought that the Cubans had invaded the home, and asked her husband "Where are our guys?", he then replied, "Those ARE our guys." She said his blood pressure was boiling. Have to admit, tempers got a little hot around my house too.

The Cuban-Americans in Florida planned to have a statewide strike on Tuesday...I wonder if it is still going to happen?

Monkeyleg: You were not alone in your ideas, or your guilt. I did the same thing.

Funny how brave we can be in the comfort of our living rooms.

Maybe if all aliens wore armbands and stayed in a special part of town and observed a curfew, the gov't agents wouldn't have to be so belligerent and the country would be swell.

Notice that no attempt was made to grab that AP photog's camera or to expose his film. In the old days at anti-war protests it was common to do that. This time, it's as if they wanted everyone to see what happens if you get on the wrong side of Your Federal Government. BTW, what the hell is the INS doing with automatic weapons in the first place? If a Federal agency needs that level of force, shouldn't they call in the FBI to help out? What next, HUD officials in SWAT gear?

Byron

FYI HUD already has a SWAT team. ( At least one)

Last I heard, there are over 80 THOUSAND!!!!federal law enforcment officers under arms.
To name a few; Dept. of Education, Agriculture, Interior, IRS, FBI, ATF, State, Bureau of Indian Affairs, FEMA, Bureau of Land Management, Dept. of Ecology, FAA, FCC, Dept. of Treasury (Secret Service), and under the Justice Dept; INS, Border Patrol, US Marshalls, Corrections. I almost forgot the DEA.

I know I missed a few. The 80,000 number is about 3 years old.

Seems like more than enough to me.

Many good honest post above this one. What are we going to do? Hide the rest of our lives waiting on our turn? Voting third party come November will be a correct step in the right direction at restoring America back to a constitutional Republic.

There are some excellent people running third party. I like Phillips, Buchanan and Browne. Browne has a web page here go see what he has to say: harrybrowne.org
