Hello, folks. I have a parkerized SA mil-spec 1911. CAn you refinish to satin blue or polished blue? If possible what type of finish do you recommend/prefer? I would really appreciate your advices.
Thank you.

Bryoon: Yes, it can be done. Satin requires hand labor to polish through the matte finsih of the parkerizing. Polishing it further, for a higher gloss finish, is even more labor intensive. Your $$$ may be worth more to you. A "prettier" gun will be more susceptible to corrosion. :)

Hi Bryoon-

Under high magnification, a parkerized finish actually has a "honeycomb" pattern that actually "holds" oils and lubricants.

This is part of the reason for the durability associated with the parkerized finish.

If you conduct a search, you'll find hundreds and hundreds of threads dedicated to handgun finishes.
