Pardner Protector

Have a question about the Pardner Protector.

Is this something to be concerned about? Or all Protectors this way?

On the forend tube assembly where the bars join the tube, the bars have been brazed (I think that's the correct term) to the tube. In direct comparision to my 870, the bars connect to the tube the same way and everything appears to be identical except this added braze where each bar joins the tube.

My parents had me pick this shotgun up for them as a home defense weapon, and I haven't ran it out them yet. It shoots better than my 870 Express, in my opinion, and I really like it. Since it is their home defense weapon, I just want to make sure that this isn't an issue before I hand it over to them.

Many thanks.

Hopefully MAX100 will respond. He seems to know everything about the Pardner Pumps. Never heard of a problem in this regard but better safe than sorry. Overall, actual owners love their Pardner Protectors. I love mine. Zero problems.

I was surprised to see this too, but I haven't had any problems with my Hawk 982. When I got mine home, disassembled it and saw this I called the distributor. One of their reps told me that the parkerized finish doesn't adhere to the brazing. Unless your 870 has this finish (I think only 870P's have it) it probably isn't visible.

With the exception of the trigger guard, my 18" Pardner Pump 12 gauge is all steel (I made sure of that with a magnet.) That gives me confidence.
The finish is crude, military-style. That's fine with me.
Twin action bars, steel receiver, 5+1 capacity, etc. I've fired dozens of rounds of 00 buck and slugs, and it handles well.
I paid around $160 at Dicks. Best $160 I've ever spent. :D

Dont worry about it.....5000 rds and humming along.....
