Paraordnance

I owned a PO P12 .45 for awhile.It was a great gun but I wanted something in a longer barrel and thinner grip for concealment.Unfortunately I don't have any experience in smaller caliber 1911's.I think they should only shoot .45cal through them.

Good luck getting a PAra 9mmm, there are not imprted into the US from Canda. There are a few floating around, however.

I have a Para P12 .45 acp with alloy frame, which is what I carry when I carry. The gun is absolutely reliable with RN, HP and handloads - but doesn't like WC or SWC bullets. I have about 2000 rounds through it. It's a fine carry pistol.

I suspect that the reason you don't see a lot of mention of Para Ordnance is that the value offerings of 'loaded' pistols by Kimber and SA is attracting most shooters.

For those shooters not interested in either the fine DA trigger of the Para LDA or high-capacity mags offered by Para, Para fairs poorly against the 'loaded' offerings by Kimber and SA.

My most recent 1911 purchase is a Springfield Champion Parkerized 'loaded' pistol. This pistol was 100% reliable out of the box, requiring only a trip to my local pistolsmith for a 4# trigger.

It seems obvious to me that the 'loaded' pistols are giving Para and other competitors real marketing problems. They have to be a problem for pistolsmiths also, since the features offered require few after-purchase mods.

The PO factory tells me that the mags are 1.25" long, so you can 9x23 load with that OAL.

I have a PO P10-45 and the little thing uses a Seecamp patent double recoil spring. It is very clever, but hard to increase the force and binds at +P or greater momentum.

That same spring system therefore cannot support more that 45acp +P momentum [power factor] in 9x23.

1100 fps 185 gr 45 = X fps 124 gr 9x23

X= 1641 fps max

I am already getting better than that from my 9x19 P11 that weighs 14 ounces.
