Paradise Lost on HBO

Sorry this isn't gun related but I NEED to know something.

Has anyone else seen this on HBO? If you did, is this for real or is it a Blair Witch type thing? It never said that it was fictional unless I missed something, but it sure does seem like it is. If it is NOT, why is no one investigating the psycho stepdad? It seems weird that the wife suddenly died of unknown causes. The stepdad keeps changing his story about the murder of the child. Yet the one guy that is in jail for the murders seems kind of strange if you ask me. I am guessing this is all not true but I am not sure. Please enlighten me it's boggling my mind LOL. :) Thanks!

Hey Sandy,

That is a true documentary. The original documentary aired some time ago, and won some awards if I recall correctly. It has also been hailed by film critics as one of the best documentaries of its type.

I agree with you that some real investigation needs to be done into the stepdad and the death of his wife. He seems like a VERY strange character. While I am not the type to point a finger at someone "strange", he brings the cloud of supsicion upon himself.

Truly an intriguing case...

THANK YOU! Although now I am worried that guy is running around, he is like a time bomb waiting to go off (seems like he already went off twice ;)) I would also like to know why he refers to his step son as his child. Where is the real father? I did not see the first documentary so I am not sure if they mentioned that aspect of it. Either way the entire story is VERY strange and for the life of me I can not see why they are NOT investigating that guy. That 'act' he did by the childs grave had me rolling which made me think it wasn't true just some bad acting. He needs a psychiatric (sp) evaluation IMO. Anyway thanks for clarifying that for me!

Miss D,
This happened right across the Mississippi river from where I live. Yes, Mark Byers is definately nuts and he may have killed his wife, but most of us around here don't think he did the kids. BTW: he's currently in jail on drug charges.
The trial was a major media event in these parts and we belive the "West Memphis Three" got off easy. They did it.

Greyfox, now I am going to have to see the first part. I wasn't sure what type of evidence they had against the three. There is a huge group of people that formed this little group to help free the Memphis three. They chat with them once a month and say that they didn't do it. But like I said I will have to see the first part and check out that website. Glad to hear that crazy guy is in jail though! :D

Don't forget- there are people who line up to marry mass murderers in America, sight unseen. Just because the BGs say they didn't do it and a bunch of people believe them isn't cause to retry them and set them free. Where there is DNA, a bloody knife with someone else's finger prints, etc- these are reaasons for doubt. Not the word of the killers and their fans.

Even Charlie Manson has a fan club.
