Para recoil spring ???

Got a used Para P13, and on cleaning noticed that the recoil spring wants to buckle in the middle on reassembly. Being new to 1911's, is this normal - none of my other 1911 style guns do this. Should the spring be replaced? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Get a Wilson or Wolff 16lb spring & go shoot that Puppy !

I have never been found of the half recoil spring guide rod found on 1911s. I own two P13s and have replaced the stock rod with a Wilson's full length guide rod (with shock buff).

I also wonder why Para Ord puts a 16 lbs recoil spring in the P13 when Colt uses a 18 in the Commander? Why a 16 lbs spring? I installed a Wolfe's 20 lbs spring in one and an Wolfe's 18 lbs in my other Para. The 20 lbs spring seems the way to go for the P13. I shoot 230 grain FMJ & JHP and have had no ejection problems with the 20 lbs spring. Recoil feels lighter , and I know that I am preventint excessive wear and tear on the slide/frame.
