Para P13 Opinions

Went to the Houston show this past weekend and a friend of mine was looking at a Para P13 SS. When I picked it up I couldn't believe how well it felt in my hand. Before I go out and get my wife pissed at me for buying another gun, I wanted some opinions on what anyone thought of this gun.

I`ve had mine for 5 years and it is a fantastic handgun.I have put over 15000 rounds through this gun and it looks as good as new.The only thing I have had done to mine is the addition of the Ed Brown beavertail and a set of houge grips and finally some adjustable sights(basically what they did to the limited model)before it came out.It is very accurate never jams and just plain looks good.I have owned quite a few para`s over the years but the p13 is my favorite oneof all .
OH if in the unlikely chance you need customer service they are great also .

For whatever it's worth, my experience is that Para-Ordnanace are prone to rust. This is what happened to me ...

After Thanksgiving, I bought a P14-45 in SS and a S&W 4006 (also in stainless stell). Since this time was filled with holiday shopping all the things associated with that time of the year, I didn't shoot either gun but put them in a safe right next to each other.

It was mid-January when I finally got around to taking them to the range and I noticed that while the S&W was perfectly fine, the P14-45 had early signs of rust all over the place.

Additionally, the 10 round magazine that came with the gun (you get a coupon for two 14-rounders) was very prone to jams and I ended up buying a few pre-ban hi-cap mags for it because another 10-rounder that I got, also jammed on me.

Other than that, the P13-45 seems like a nice, mid-size, hi-cap 1911.

Of all the guns I own, my stainless P13.45 may be my favorite. It's just plain awesome. It carries a ridiculous amount of firepower (13+1 rounds of .45) in a mid-sized package. It's amazingly accurate, and does not jam. It is heavy, but it's not an everyday carry gun (get the alloy if you want to carry it). Regarding rust, I've had mine about 2-3 years, and while I've noticed a few spots just to the rear of the front sight, I'm not sure they're rust or not. Regardless, they haven't gotten any bigger. Buy it. Trust me, you'll love it.

Yup, I have a P14-45 and I LOVE the way it fits in my hand! I don't consider myself a big guy either. I'm 5'11" average size hands. I loved the way it felt when I picked it up at the gun shop. I was choosing between the Para and the Springfield armory stainless 1911. For me, the magazine release was easier to hit on the Para and the slightly wider grips felt better in my hand. I haven't had any jams or problems with mine except that I bought a generic ten round mag and the slide didn't lock open after the last round. I returned that mag and got a Para ten rounder and no problems since. (My gun came with a regular capacity mag (14 rnds) and I ordered two more regular capacity mags from the factory!)

A P-12 was my first expensive gun outside of the military. I only had it for a while, sold it to a friend who said he had nothing but problems with it jamming.

I have a P14 and a P13 (I carry the 13 daily) I love them both. I am thinking about getting a P10 next.

In my opinion, you can not go wrong with a para.

I've had mine for about 5 years and I like it alot.
Mine is the black steel version, and the finnish is holding up very well.
At around 500-600 rounds, it suddenly decided it was broke in, and is very accurate and will feed anything.
But, like someone else said, you have to keep and eye on the mags. Some work marvelous, and some not so hot.
These are good guns.

I don't own a P-13, but I do own a P-12 Limited. Alloy Frame. Have 4 hi cap mags.
Never jammed once. Its a beaut to shoot.
Its my carry gun, when clothing and enviroment enable me to do so.
I would say the P-13 would work fine for you, but consider the p-12 instead.
