Para Ordnance LDA questions

I got to check one of these guns out today, and i'm confused on the action of it. Its supposed to be Da right?? Well, I had to manually cock the hammer, then the hammer would fall(presumably not on the firing pin), then the trigger would seem like a DA. I thought this was a real DA where you pull the trigger and it simultaneously cocked the hammer and dropped it. Anyone care to comment on this? How is the quality and reliability/accuracy of the LDA??

Greg, 3 guys on my board own an LDA & are very happy to date.
Todd Jarrets test gun has gone past 20,000rnds so far & is still in one piece. ;)
I'm about to take delivery (next week hopefully) of my very own LDA & will be giving it one heck of a Range test myself.
Will post results ASAP.
Some upgrades have been made since the 1st models went on sale & if you send the gun in, they'll upgrade it free of charge! :)
If you "come on down", I'm sure the guys will answer ALL your questions. :)

HS what upgrades are you talking about. I wonder if mine will qualify for it? How does one know if it needs upgrading?

BTW this is a great gun! I love the double action. It is VERY smooth.

"I had occasion to talk with Jay at Para the other day and he mentioned that they are currently in the 3xxx production number and that since my LDA was produced (s/n 15xx) there have been 3 minor design improvements which will retrofit into all previous guns. He assured me that if I would mail him my gun he would intalll the updates within 24 hours and priority ship the gun back to me. I've had mine since October last year and it performs flawlessly but I will send it back after the next IDPA match to have it upgraded. These people run a first class operation, IMO."

GregM, The LDA is a DA that requires that the sear be reset after the action is cycled. The hammer is acually two hammers in one. When the slide is retracted it sets the internal hammer against the sear, while the external hammer follows the slide to its intercept notch. When you pull the trigger, the trigger bar pushes the external hammer back until the sear is released causing both hammers to fall. As the internal hammer rotates forward, the external hammer strikes the firing pin, the music starts and the song remains the same. It is this design that allows a double action pull of about five pounds. The trigger is only pushing against the external hammer, not the main spring.
