Para C7 LDA Opinions

I'll start out to say...I WANT ONE!:D

I did a search and did find one great review of the new compact LDA model, but I'm needing more information.

I recently sold my G30:( . It was a great gun but I wasn't 101% comfortable with carrying it. I've been carrying glocks since 94 and now I'm not entirely comfortable anymore..geezzz..go figure. Plus the issue of no lead bullets became a nagging problem.

Anyway, I'm seriously looking at the Compact Para Ord LDA. Specifically the C7 Model. I'm not totally comfortable with cocked n locked, so these Para's seem to be a great compromise.

I've owned a Sig P245 and she was nice, but I want a 1911 style. It just appeals to me lately. I would guess that carrying my Kahr Mk9 has got me itching for all steel guns again.

Ok..enough of my rambling...I need info!

Thanks!

I own a 14-45 LDA. The trigger is great. A long pull, but very smooth. The smoothness makes the pull feel lighter than it is.
The down side is that the trigger mechanism is somewhat complicated. A gunsmith I smoke with was impressed with it, but didn't like the possibly increased chance that something might go wrong when it is needed. It has never given me any problems though.

I've checked out the larger Para LDA's and was impressed at how light the trigger pull felt for a "DA" type weapon. I even wondered if it had enough power to set off hard primers, but I guess it does since I haven't heard any complaints.

Now the trick...to find one at a reasonable price.

owned a LDA14-45 for 3 years and have to say its a work of art , a little confusing for people of the old 1911 school(hammer going to rest ) but the triger action is great , only problem encountered since I bought it was not finding enough high caps for it . have had no problem lighting off charges , and great in the accuracy dept.so Its a good Buy in MY Opinoin .

Check links

Just go to the 1911 board on the TFL links....there's a whole bunch of opinions on the PO 7-LDA there, most of those opinions seem to be from those who have them.

Good luck and write a range report.

Thanks for the info.

Hmmm..I'm not sure if I want one now. Some of the Opinions of Para Ord Products are really great, but some folks have had a lot of troubles.

Perhaps I'll just learn to get more comfy with Cocked n Locked and get a Springfield or Kimber.

Please don'tbash me for this comment! I recently rented one ( an 8 shot LDA) in Orlando and was very disappointed. Lots of noise, lots of muzzle flash out of the short barrel, lots of recoil, didn't feed ball 230 real well. I took it out after 16 rounds and traded it for a glock 30. Thank glock for plastic!

I bought one after reading the reviews ...........I was very much unimpressed..the gun is not an 800.00 dollar gun.and I dont give a d## who wants to flame me...that is a big part of the problem
(folks fearing what others will say) the one I bought was not worth the asking price....perhaps the one you buy may be...but mine was not..... the extractor needed constant tuning....... the metal was showing a lot of wear internaly and it was just not up to current market standards...

I have owned over 32 new hand guns this past year and this is the only one I can tell you to stay away from......and by the way some of the troubles did not start untill after two hundred rounds.

Did I sent it back........no I did not... I dont have the time or the inclination to do so. I got it working good(for awhile) and I sold :p

Para Ord

Redleg, I just bought a C7.45. Haven't had a chance to test it yet. I also own a Kahr Mk9. I was advised not to buy it because it was made by "the Moonies". It has turned out to be one of the best 9s I've owned. Guns are like anything else, some folks occassionally get a lemon.

The last two Colt officer models I've owned, I traded off because of various problems. As someone else mentioned, rent or borrow one and shoot the LDA. I think you should expect a bit of recoil, noise and flash out of any .45 with a short barrel.

Good luck:)

My problem is that the place that rents guns in my town doesn't have this item in stock.

I'm still considering one. One thing I did like was a favorable review in a gun rag, but then you can take those with a grain of salt. They aren't going to bash an advertisers guns and lose all the business of their ads in the magazine.

I'm now really looking at one of the Springfield Armory single stack compacts. They look very nice with the beavertail , 4 inch barrel, Novak sights, skeletonized trigger and hammer. Defintely a nice pistol. Only a 6 rd capacity, but she's a beauty. I'll just have to learn to be more comfy with cocked n locked.

I have to side with GLH: I got a P1640 lDA LTD. I still shoot it every week and I do like the trigger, but the workamnship and part quality are not up to the $900 price tag.

If you want a $900 1911 that's worth more than it's price, try an STI Trojan. I am totally satisfied with the quality on mine.
