Pam in the bore?

I received an excellent suggestion re: crud building up in a muzzle brake: Spray with Pam.
Has anyone tried Pam as a bore oil? Would it prevent leading?

If you get the lemon pepper flavor, it smells like gormet cooking after you fire a few off!(I couldn't resist,I'm bored, sorry!) Seriously though, I beleive it would cost as much or more as a can of Rem Oil or teflon spray. :)

Pam works great, not a trace of leading in my fry pans. Havn't tried it in bore, don't think it would stay for enough shots.

I strongly recommend AGAINST using any kind of vegetable oil on a firearm. After a relatively short period of time it drys to a sticky, gummy consistency that does quite the opposite of 'lubrication' and, in the barrel if a firearm, that can lead to dangerously high pressures.

I totally agree with Seronac's post. Vegtable oil will set up in time. Too many good products for your firearms to be using PAM.

Pam is great stuff if you're cooking biscuits on your .357 (one at a time). Otherwise, I'd stick to lubricants formulated for a firearm.

Pam in the bore???

Hmmmmm.....

[Future conversation at the medical examiners office in Biefie MS]

ME:Well detective, it's kind of odd?

DET: What do you mean odd?

ME: Well either the bad guy somwhow managed to get a cooking oil like substance into his wound, or he was shot with a reload made from a recycled cooking skillet from the Waffle House. I'm not sure which...

I have never heard of using any type of oil in a barrel to prevent leading, and agree that it would be dangerous to put oil in a barrel, but as to the question of using something in a muzzle break, I have heard that for supressors that normally require packing with grease, you can spray WD-40 in the suppressor instead. It only works for a few rounds, but is a lot easier than packing the grease in. Your question is probably about keeping someting clean rather than a question about using a spray lubricant in a functional way, in which case please ignore this.

Pam is the suggested lubricant for my bandsaw blade. Seriously.

Carter's Compensator Spray for your muzzle brake, TetraLube (followed by a dry patch) in your bore.

Both help prevent leading.

Unless your bandsaw fires bullets, it's not the same as putting it in a gun barrel. Seriously. :)
