Paintball RIFLE

why is it all the major paintball guns are sidearms with huge gas canisters grafted onto the bottom of the pistol grip?

it seems more natural to have a rifle with the air tank mounted behind the receiver & functioning like a stock. If the gas needs to be hosed to a regulator/expansion chamber in the fore grip , i can live with it.

i have seen the M1 with the CAR stock but that design has the gas attached to the chamber at a 45 degree angle.
it is not exactly a compact package.

what i want would look like this: http://www.funsupply.com/images/ss.jpg

The problem is the Mask and Goggle system.

With a mask - you cant use a stock like a regular rifle.
Its much better to have it low as you have mentioned so you dont interfere with your mask.
A paintball to the eye or teeth can be very painful - or life altering.

Another reason why is becuase they don't want them looking like real guns.

I go paintballing reguarly, and the place I go to told this guy who modified his paintball gun to look semi-realistic to not bring it around this area, or it might confuse/scare/etc people.

To be honest, I don't want them looking like real guns much either... for what they do, they're designed just fine.

my objection is to the poor ergodynamics and inability of a paintball marker to shoot from the prone position

the average hopper holds 250 rounds,
thats a days magazine load for soldier

maybe if the gas bottle size was limited to 100 rounds and you carried a spare, there would be less of a tendancy to spray a hopper in 15 minutes

At a nickle a pop some serious change is tossed into the woods.

i tend to play conservatively making my shots count. If the gun point shot better, i feel like i could be more effective.

I have a pretty well set up Autococker (2 Palmer regulators, stainless barrel, cut block, stainless cocking rod, etc) with a remote rig and ViewLoader 2000 (electric anti-jamming).

I can get as prone as I could with a rifle, with the exception of the loader. The remote rig lets you handle it like it was a subgun, perhaps a MP5k.

Some games I go though without firing a shot, whether it's because I was pegged right off the bat or the action was somewhere else. Other times I've gone through every bit of paint I typically carry, which is around 600 balls (200 in loader, 400 in buttpack). It's expensive but it's a lot of fun and it usually only happens once per paintball outing.

The Tippman Pro-xxxx series of paintguns are often configured as very rifle-like. They are excellent in the way of reliability and can be very accurate with the addition of an aftermarket barrel. Last I looked, a Pro-Lite package could be had for around $220.

I think you might be interested in playing "stock" games. 12 gram CO2 and 10 round horizontal magazine in a pump pistol.

anyone have a back bottled Palmer Typhoon?

You can use a Marker in Prone just fine.
If you have a verticle tank - then thats a problem... however any tank configueration can be resolved nicely with a $40 Remote line. You dont need to buy a new gun.

The new Tippman Flatliner barrel system is amazing. You just can't appreciate it until you have used one in a game.
Beware! Once you try one - you will HAVE TO GET ONE!
Of course I dont need all that fancy hoopla...
Gimme a pair of PGPs and some fast techno grunge music and I'll hold my own. :D

There are many good markers out there. The best one is not produced yet. The KLR 68 JackHammer has yet to enter production. It will go in conjunction with a new startup rifle venture... But thats another story.
Wanna know what the KLR looks like? Sumthing like a warped HK G11... and from the muzzle it looks like a Giant 1911 pointed at you. Thats all I'm saying right now.

I will be releasing a new marker into the market soon. Select fire, 3 moving parts, ROF of 30 rounds per second(I may limit it though, it actually can fire up to 65 per second with powerfeed.....)

No electronics either. Best part is, it will be laid out more like a real rifle. Only downside, for some people anyway not me, is that it's a bit heavy.

Can't tell you right now who is going to manufacture it, but it should be good :)

Should see some initial sightings of it in play in about 6 months....

woof!

But the Palmer is worth it!
Really though, if you're going to get a blowback paintball gun, at least get one that is well supported and has lots of upgrade possibilities like a Tippman, Spyder, or Piranha.
