PACT Mark IV Timer/Chronograph

Has anyone had recent experience with the PACT Mk IV Timer/Chronograph? Specifically, downloading strings to a computer. I just (3/2011) bought one based on its capability to store and download data, primarily from its chronograph function. The software that one downloads from PACT's web site just doesn't work for me, it never sees the device. A call to PACT wasn't helpful; "It works on our computer" and "Try restarting your computer and the software" were the responses. That didn't help. The IR connection to an HP printer ($154.99) is no better; error messages of "unclear or scrambled data" or "data streaming too fast".
 
To download the data, connect the chrono to the computer, startup Shot Browser, then hit the Retrieve Shots. When it's finished, export it to Excel.

I use a Professional.
