as most of you know my recent experiences have brought me back to packing two pistols. one is a K40 Kahr and the other is an MK40. i have been using a Jagware pocket holster for the MK40 but the other day i saw a Don Hume belt slide on sale. it is similar to a Yaqui belt slide and is made for the Model 19 Glock.
BY THE WAY A LOT OF GLOCK HOLSTERS WILL FIT KAHRS. TRY THEM, SLIDE THICKNESS IS ABOUT THE SAME FOR SOME MODELS OF GLOCK.
anyhow the belt slide was laying in a discount box for $10.00 so it went home with me. the slide of the MK40 only sticks out of the bottom of the belt side holster about 1/2" and it fits the MK40 like it was made for it. all the guys in the gun shop were as supprised as i was. it has a forward slant gun posistion that makes it a joy to carry. so i put my left hand Kramer horsehide vertical scabbard on my left side and put the Don Hume belt slide on the right side. when i put the pistols in i expected to feel like Wild Bill, packing twin pistols one on each side.
but it had a strange feeling of balance and comfort. i seem to reach the "i forgot i had a gun(s) on" feeling faster than with only one pistol on.
so here i am standing in my living room checking out the mirror for telltale bulges ect. when i notice and old pic of my great-great grandfather. he was a few years back from the Civil War. he was standing on the front porch leaning against one of the posts. around his waist was a broad sash of heavy cloth as was his habit of dressing. stuffed in the sash was two identical pistols. close examination of the pic ahows that they were two 1851's, cap and ball revolvers, probably .44's.
how much things change and how much they stay the same.
