Can you imagine what will be left of America if governors are allowed to start selling off taxpayers property to foriegn investors?

Join the club..... The Trans Texas Corridor. I am going to have to do some research but what I heard was that the private companies are buying the right to put up toll roads. The price to the taxpayer is that any public roads near the Corridor can not be improved or upgraded. This is to force growing areas in the path of the Corridor on to the toll roads. So if you live near the corridor and your population expands the public roads cant be upgraded to meet the growing demand.

Even in Houston and other Texas cities you have a choice to use the public roads or the toll roads. The Texas DOT is getting a crapload of cash up front. I wonder what price the piper will ask years down the road. I think our legislature needs to give this project some thought to ensure that some weenie bureaucrats do not have terminal colon blockage due to the large up front cash payments which prevents them from looking ahead into the future.

What is yellow and sleeps 5? A PennDot truck.
Best. Post. Ever. Hahahahahaa!

Considering the geniuses that manage the turnpike and the pathetically slow rate at which they "work", selling it is probably a good idea.

When I was growing up my father had a turnpike pass that he could use to get on and go anywhere for no charge. His company (he was a highway engineer) had virtually continuous design and development contracts at that time.

Back then the pike was actually fairly drivable. These days it's a mess.

Expect more of this as Governments scramble to find more money to fund Pensions and Healthcare.

Then brag how they cut taxes.

The selling of America continues at a good pace however everything has
a beginning and end, all I can say it will be interesting.

100,000,000

This is what Ken Blackwell was going to sell the Ohio turnpike for if he was elected. His reasoning was all the good he could do with that much cash upfront.I wonder if I could wait till I die to pay my taxes so the gov. would get a lump sum?:p

Research Penn's (or any state or gov. agency anywhere) Confidential Annual Financial Report (CAFR). They are not broke, they're making tons of money under the table.
http://www.cafr1.com/ is a good place to start.

Eghad, read The Monkey Wrench Gang if you get time.

Bush 41 signed an executive order directing the commerce and state departments to encourage and facilitate foreign investment in US infrastructure. Ports management was pretty much under the radar until the Dubai Fiasco. High capacity roads and being played as we speak. TTC is merely the most visible. IIRC Illinois sold off a road in the Chicagoland area to the same cast of characters as Texas. Indiana just got through doing the same. My only question is what took Fast Eddie to long.

Look for the same activity around other elements of infrastructure. High on the list is sewer system, water supply, and electrical systems. All brought to you courtesy of a government which is completely out of money and now the credit is drying up. Meanwhile the systems get older and older. One of two things will have to happen. Government will have to start spending which simply may not be possible or find someone else to do it. The United States has become a nation of whores because our political masters can no longer stifle their corrupt instincts. Very sad.

If you refer to US currency, the Treasury Department prints currency. The Federal Reserve (a privately held banking consortium) was franchised by congress to regulate the value of currency and to provide banking services to the US government.

Round table discussions range from the Bill of Rights, to concealed carry, to general political issues.

I don't think so. 'Sounds like a local political issue NOT related to RKBA.
