PA CCW Help!

I have to travel to Greensburg in the next few weeks. In order to stay legal, I checked with www.packing.org for an answer and got conflicting results.

In a series of threads, someone purporting to be an Asst DA wrote the following: "Now if you are a resident of this great county and you have a permit from your state of residence, under PA CS 6106 (11) you may have a gun loaded in your car so long as you have your licence from you home state or one issed under the laws of this country."

I can't find any support for this in the PA laws. I am licensed in Indiana. Can I carry a pistol in my car; if so, under what circumstances (loaded/not loaded, in trunk, in glove comp, etc.)?

Thanks.

I think this is pretty plain...

18 § 6106. Firearms not to be carried without a license. (a) Offense defined.--Any person who carries a firearm in any vehicle or any person who carries a firearm concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license under this chapter commits a felony of the third degree. (b) Exceptions.--The provisions of subsection (a) shall not apply to:11.Any person while carrying a firearm in any vehicle, which person possesses a valid and lawfully issued license for that firearm which has been issued under the laws of the United States or any other state.

I've always wondered about that.

Pa is like the hunters paradise. Buck monday is a state holiday.

Yet, the people of Pa may not carry a firearm in their vehicles. I wonder, do they just leave them leaning against a tree all year off season?

How do you buy a firearm at a store and get it home?

I guess Pa has a whole lot of felons.

This is so strange to me.

DMSC -

Right you are, it's pretty plain. However, in packing.org's Pennsylvania page, it lists the "safe journey" laws as "unknown". Huh?

Additionally, does the statute you quote allow me to carry loaded in the vehicle or unloaded and locked in the trunk or what?

(You must have a valid hunting, fishing license and a sportsmans permit. This permit pertains to firearms..ie..handguns only)
