P99 importer stamp

Are the Smith & Wesson-made Walther P99 slides all stamped "Walther USA Springfield, MA"? If a P99 slide is stamped "Carl Walther USA LLC Alexandria/VA", is it a totally German-made P99 or is there a chance it may still be a Walther/Smith version?

I know the easy thing to do would be to check for the proof-marks on the slide and barrel, but it belongs to a friend of mine. I have not seen it, and all I know is that it has the "Carl Walther LLC" stamp on the slide. I'll probably get a chance to check it out later in the week. I do know the frame is year 2000 manufacture.

The new P99's have all German Proofs. This includes slide, frame and barrel. They also have the importer, *&*, stenciled in white on the right forward portion of the slide. They are all German and all *&* is doing is importing/servicing them. Not sure if this answers your question though.

There were around 3000 P99's in .40 that had the slides and barrels made by smith. They will not have the nitro mark or the proofhouse mark on them. The nitro mark is the Eagle over the N and the Proofhaus is the Antlers.

Wether or not the gun has the importer stamp as S&W is irrelevant. Just look for the nitro mark. All 9mm are all German made.

Thanks for the info. It is a 9x19. My friend is selling it, I will probably be buying it. Brand new and unfired. Never owned a Walther. I'm looking forward to it.
