P7M8 or P7M13

I'm considering a P7. I've knocked the .22/.380, .40 and PSP out of the running, and I'm down to the M8 and M13 (I almost put a bid on a used M13 with 2 clips last week for 850; but it ended up going for 950 which still ain't bad).

I usually prefer the double stack guns because of the capacity, but I'm concerned about the girth of the grip because of the squeeze cocker (I have no problem with the Beretta, Glock, etc.). I'm also concerned about the availability of hi-caps.

Plusses for the M8 are that it's narrower, cheaper, easier to get hi-caps for, and easier to carry. I can also possibly find one new.

Any comments or suggesions from someone who owns or has shot both?

I went to the gunshop and tried the grip on the P7M8 and the M13. I bought the P7M8 because it fit my hand. The M13 grip is just to darn big. Why do you need hi capacity? Are you planning on missing a lot? If you can't do it with 9 rounds will a couple more do you any good?

I think I will make a P7M8 my next purchase. I was also considering theM13.

The final deciding factors for me were the M8's greater comfort level and the fact that mags are easier and cheaper to get.

Capacity is one of the last factors in my gun purchasing decisions. I agree with M16.

Hi Branrot:

I've had both and prefer the M8. I found the M13 just too thick for my hand and harder to carry. P7's are great guns!

I have a P7M8 and owned P7M13 for a while. M8 is comfortable to hold and carry but M13 feels like a 2x4 in my hand and didn't carry very well. Get a M8.

I carry an M13 as primary with an M8 as backup. Try both and see what feels best in your hands. Both are accurate, reliable and have terrific triggers. As far as I am concerned, if a little is good, then more is better and too much is just right, especially with pistol calibers.

The M13's grip is almost identical to that of the Glock 21 in size. So if the big Glock is too much, you're not going to be thrilled with the M13. I've got both. My M13 was bought mainly for competition. My M8 is mostly for everything else.

check out both at your range or see if someone shooting has one.

Most people prefer the M8 do to its ergonomics and its economics. Mags are plentiful for the M8 but the M13's will cost you $100 a pop.

I prefer the PSP - the orginal to the derivative but my key criteria was CCW.

But between the side mag releasers, the M8 takes the cake!

I don't care for the PSP's mag release. I much prefer the "American" style mag release (behind the trigger) to the "European" style (under the butt). I've shot guns with both (and in fact own a gun with the European elease), and make this decision from my experience, not theory.

Mind you, I'm not saying one is better than the other, but only that I prefer one over the other.

Get the P7M8. It's easyer to carry, Also its hard to get a grip on the M13 well enough that it won't move in you hand when you shoot rapid fire.

Best Regards
Sam
