I just picked up my p7m8 yesterday. I was wondering what ammo most of you use for the shooting range. I was considering using Speer lawman, or gold dots, or federal balisticlean. Thanks for any advice!

I've owned a PSP, an M8 and an M13. The best guidelines I can give you for ammo is no aluminum cases, no lead bullets and the hotter, the better.

Greetings, Mr_P7M8! I have the older PSP version of your gun. It's handled both standard and +P rounds with ease as well as some hot handloads. Do avoid lead bullets so that you don't have a chore cleaning the gas piston and its chamber. I've heard, but not experienced it firsthand, that plated bullets will leave fragments there, too. Mine's worked fine with practically any round you care to name, so I'd go with what groups and is cheapest. Best.

I have run lots of aluminum cased Blaser ammo through my P7M8 with no problems whatsoever. I usually carry 115gr +P JHP's, so I practice with the 115 Blasers.

How did it shoot? I've been researching ammo preferences for the P7s and have concluded that hotter is better.

Well i shot it with some winchester nato 124gr.. it shot pretty good.. but the ammo is kinda dirty.. what ammo brand is considered "hotter"?

OK. I have shot:

Winchester 115 FMJ
Winchester Nato 124 FMJ
Wolf Russian 115 FMJ (steel)
Other Russian 115 FMJ (steel)
Seller and Beloit FMJ
PNP South African 115 FMJ
Denal South African 115 FMJ
(brass unless specified)

I have found that the Wolf shoots low.

Frankly, I go for the cheapest since I pump 400+ rounds each weekend and another 50-100 for IDPA.

Right now, the best bargain to date is the South African from Cole Distributing

At 109.95 deliverd for 1000 (+ 3% for Visa/MC) this cannot be beat.

I have heard that steel will be harder on the breech, so I am going with the South African.
