Say gang,

I ran into a Dan Wesson P738 'Little Dan' .38 revolver.

$244, tax included. Locks perfect but I haven't shot it (tomorrow that deed gets done.)

So does anyone know how many were made?

Thanks,

Deaf

Pictures!!

I had never heard of these before. Sounds like they are quite rare and you got a heck of a deal. DWs are great guns. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Let us know how it shoots!

I want to see a picture of your little Dan. They didn't make too many of them (or at least some really quiet people bought most of them because they don't come up often). Also you did great on the price. I'm assuming a '7'38 is going to be stainless, yes? The rumor is that Dan Wesson himself never wanted anything to do with stainless steel guns (he seemed to strongly agree or strongly disagree with a lot of what S&W was up to and he would either liberally borrow, or obviously deviate depending on his appreciation or objection) so no SS guns were said to be made while he was in charge of DW. Most of this I have pieced together, so it's all probably easily disprovable by more wizened Dan Wesson historians. You would do well to ask the real authorities on this subject - http://www.danwessonforum.com/

Ok. It's Sn is S002xxx. I shot it today. First 5 rounds at 7 yards were excellent. Bit low but virtually all in same hole (firing 2 handed, single action.)

But after about 30 rounds the group started getting ragged.

Turns out the barrel nut had loosened.

So here are the photos, one with it complete the other without the barrel shroud.

Yes it's a bit dirty. I will take it apart, super clean, lube, and put some guntite on the shroud threads before re-assembling.

I have feeler gages and it takes a 006 feeler gage!

And maybe those cool grips that look like they are made for it.
