P7 +P/+P+ rounds

The P7 gas-retarded system self-adjusts, so +P and +P+ should be fine. The more power that is pushed through the barrel (and thus bled through the gas port), the greater the effect the gas system has. However, I have only shot +P though my P7s, and have noticed that it causes the trigger guard area to heat up faster. Probably more so for +P+ ammo.

While it's absolutely correct that the gas system is self regulating, that doesn't mean that the gas system is absorbing the increased chamber pressure on the breech. One of the few structural failures I've ever heard with the P7 is breachblock cracking, usually in the welds that join the block to the slide. The gas system merely regulates slide velocity, unlike every other design.

Having said that, I'd shoot and carry +P, but consider using normal pressure for the majority of your practice fire. I don't think that's a training disadvantage and keeps your expensive P7 in reliable good health for when you need it.

Miwall has the excellent 124 gr. +P Gold Dot's for $10 a box of fifty-a great choice for this weapon.
