P7 draw method?

What is your preferred draw method? I would like to get an idea what most people prefer. For me, it works best if I cock a P7 after the draw but before the weapon is on target--finger off the trigger the whole time. Ayoob prefers cocking after the target is acquired--what do you guys think?

I cock it on the way up with my finger off the trigger also.

Where would you remove the safety on a 1911?

I started thinking about it, and I'm not sure if I do one more than the other during a match. I think it has to do with how fast I'm trying to get the shot off, based on distance to the target.

I do not cock anywhere close to the beginning of the draw. The gun is definitely pointed downrange, rather than at the floor. But I wouldn't wait until I've acquired the sights, either. Why disturb your sight picture by cocking then?

In essense, it shouldn't matter when exactly you do it as long as it's well after clearing leather and before aiming.

Obviously, the trigger finger habit is the most important part.

I have only had P7 a short time, so I guess I am not yet set in my ways, but I have been cocking it after it is out of the holster, pointed towards the target, but before I actually sight in.

Seems like squeezing after you sight in will result in you needing to sight in again.

I have spent quite a bit of time practicing with a P7. I squeeze the grip the instant the barrel is horisontal.

Best Regards
Sam
