P30 or PPQ M2?

Is this just an itch? Or, is it a downgrade to lose the P30 for a PPQ M2?
New price is substantial, purchased P30 used 3 yrs ago for 8 c's. To me the difference is a better trigger reset on the PPQ. Both feel great in my hand. Without firing both live, only dry firing, both feel very easy for target acquisition. I prefer the P30 sights. What is my lack of knowledge and experience missing? Only complaint on P30 is the railroad track of the inner trigger guard digging into my trigger finger on rare occasion. Suspect possibly different loads.

P30 prices have come down. You'll likely lose some on the deal. That said do what makes you happy. I'd rather the PPQ M1 myself.

I had a PPQ M2 in .40. Absolutely nicest, polymer striker fired gun i have shot or handled. The trigger is absolutely amazing and rivals my 1911s trigger. I upgraded my sights, as icfound the stock ones horrible. Also added talon grips because i found the factory stippling a bit slippery when wet. Great great gun though. It depends on which features you like. I cannor stand a lever style mag release, but i prefer a hammer fired system over striker.

keep the p30 t is a fine gun

save to get a ppq--they only cost about 550. They are bOTH great guns.

the P30 with an lem trigger negates use of safety(IMHO) is extremely accurate for a plastic framed gun and is fun to shoot

the ppq has the BEST striker fired trigger system out there. bar none. is very accurate and again is great fun to shoot+ it comes in a 5" target model too!

While the PPQ M1 is undoubtedly the world's finest handgun, that is a question only you can answer for yourself.

Are you ready for the responsibility of owning such a fine weapon?

:D

Heard great things of PPQ M1, haven't seen one in the 3 or 4 indie LGS in my driving area. Prefer to give them my biz even though Gander is 10 minutes away, and Cabela's just showed up in the nuclear population explosion of my little town, a half mile away.
Boatdoc, I think your right.
Took the P30 this afternoon to my fav LGS, feel he's always good to me. He was talking about 275 for the deal. 629?-649? outright. I walked out with a hard shell case for my Henry. :)
So as a semi retired mechanic these past two weeks I started cleaning my garage. Got 2 bills today for the 15 yr old bikes and bike wrenching tools etc. Guess I keep cleaning the garage and if I help enough older people He'll see to it I have one or the other or both.:):):):):)

$275 on top of the trade? I'll tell you right now this guy isn't "good to you".

I wouldn't trade my own P30, although I've really liked my Walther PPS M2 a lot from day one, this gun works great for many different intended uses. But the Sig P320 Carry is the next striker-fired, polymer-framed gun I intend to acquire.

I have both and like both a lot. My P30 is the P30L model with the safety.

I tend to favor hammer fired pistols myself. My P30L is definitely a softer shooter than my PPQ and both are excellent as far as accuracy.

The trigger on both are really nice. A couple easy spring changes on the P30 really transforms the trigger, especially DA. The SA was always sweet.

Yeah the P30 series has a long reset but has never been an issue for me. I recently bought an HK P30SK LEM and really like it also.

Rent a PPQ and see what you think. Most seem to really like it.

The P-30 and PPQ M1 are very similar ergonomically and aesthetically even though they have completely different trigger systems and from different companies (albeit both German).

I'd give the P-30 as having slightly better overall quality of the two. The P-30 is very accurate with the PPQ being exceptionally accurate. The P-30's trigger is not in the same league as the PPQ's in terms of creep (break) and reset. I prefer the magazine release paddles of the P-30 over the PPQ's and prefer both over the button of the M2. It's nice that the Walther has the option of both though.

The trigger on the PPQ is one of the best for an out of the box striker fired gun. I say one of the best because models like the HK VP9, Sig 320, and Steyr L9-A1 are all in the same group.

I like the suggestion of having both. If one of mine had to go, the PPQ would stay.

Decided I'd keep the P30. (This version has no safety, has hammer decocker left of hammer.) Come to thimk of it tunnelrat, that does sound wrong 275,. That lacked awareness. In the mean time think I'll keep an out for PPG M1 to compare.

I've been seriously thinking of picking up a PPQ for a several months. I've shot a couple of them and they shoot very well. I do own a P30LS and it too has been great. As TunnelRat said the P30 has come down in price along with several of the other HKs. Maybe they have come to realize they needed to in order to stay competitive.

I hope so because I really like most of their offerings. Only in my opinion, but they seem to be one of the few major players that hasn't suffered a decline in quality over the last six or eight years.

Glad to see you kept the P30. I'm a big HK fan, just ask my USP in 40.;)

I did almost buy a PPQ when they first came out, due to that sweet trigger, but I got a sweet deal on a M&P compact at the time and saved the extra money for a nice holster and ammo. Maybe one day ppq, one day...
