P229 SIG gets kingwood grips

I finally got around to taking a pic of my P229 Sig in 40 S&W since I put the new grips on it. The grips are by Houge, checkered and out of king wood. When I saw the grain pattern I could not resist. I really hate the look of the original 229 grips even though they are probably the best feeling factory grips on any semiauto I have held.

My favorite full size carry handgun.
I will get some better quality pics when I put on the hex head grip screws and refinish the slide.

Great looking grips my friend; but you lost the "Tactical
Advantage".

I ordered a set of those for my two-tone 9mm version of your gun. That was 3 weeks ago. Dont know if Hogue is solw or if they just lost my order since it was right around newyears. I got the smooth kingwoods though.

They look great on the gun...REALY makes me wish mine would hurry up and get here.

Those grips are cool looking. Personally, tho, I really like the regular (aftermarket) Hogue grips on a 229--they feel great and reduce the recoil almost to .32 levels.

But, you have lost the tactical advantage.

Let's see.

Tactical; defined primarly by being black, overpriced, overhyped, and giving the purchaser/user the illusion he/she is actually using the same equipment as a "professional."

Well they are not black. That is true. But they certainly were over priced.
Overhyped, humm. I guess maybe true but d*mn they pretty.
Same equipment as the "professionals." I am 44, fat and bald. No danger of me being mistaken for a operator or a SWAT team member.

Got a good looking gun though. :p

Just got the kingwoods for my 610 yesterday. They are gorgeous. I'll try to scan a few pics tonight for posting. Little pricy though and I waited a month.

Disaster warning

Haven't you heard? Those grips are dangerous! Ruins the looks and function of pistol. Causes AD's, FTF, FTRTB, and BATF investigations, as they are not authorized! Immediately remove them but do not throw in trash! Some other poor unsuspecting soul might retrieve them and face the same danger. Send them to me for proper disposal at once! I am the only one with the proper training and equipment to do this dirty job:D

Sure Signs I'm Getting Older:

Prefer wood grips to "tactical" plastic and rubber.

Carry wheelguns a lot. All with wood grips.

Only own one 9mm. (...and it's a P7)

Leave AK folder cased and keep .45 Colt levergun loaded.

Just got a Sig 220 ST. Those kingwoods would be the ticket on that gun! I don't sneak around in black jammies too often...Tactical, Schmacktical...Give me a few old boys..or gals Tamara..with 30-30s that know how to use em, and aren't afraid of direct confrontation over a bunch of showboat swattie types that fold when the crap hits the oscillator.

I too find myself using wood grips more and more. Have a pair of Hogue tulipwood grips on my two-tone 220 and on my nickeled 239. Dark Rosewood on my K-Kote 239.

Here's a picture of my 220.

Take care. Marko
