P226 misaligned sights?

Hey all!

I just picked up my SIG P226 and everything with this pistol is great! Only one problem though...the rear sight is quite noticeably pushed to the left. Isn't it supposed to be dead center? If so, how do I realign the site? With a punch and hammer? Thanks for your help!

Shoot it from a rest before making any adjustments to the sights -- if the gun shoots to the center of the target, then leave it be.

What exactly constitutes a "soft" punch? The only ones I have are made out of metal.

But I should take M1911's advice and take it to the range and test-fire it. Who knows, it might be properly aligned after all!

Oh wow, I just checked prices for sight pushers and these are WAY too expensive for me! Should I just take the P226 to a gunsmith and have them handle it? Or is it easy and riskfree enough to align the sights myself?

Find a piece of brass stock, maybe 1/4" x 1/4", by about 4" long. Polish a smooth end on it, and theres your sight pusher. Use a small hammer to hit the sight pusher. The brass will leave a little mark on the sight, but a rag wetted with Break-Free rubbed on the spot will remove it.

You DID take it out and shoot it first, right? Maybe the sight is over to one side for a reason?
