I saw the work of smiths like Bill Laughridge of Cylinder and Slide, in particular his Pathfinder Hi-Powers. I was wondering if a similar grip chop could be done to a P226 to accept P228/P229 mags, or chop the mags themselves down to size like C&S does with their Pathfinders. It would involve removing a section in the middle of the grip, then welding the two halves back together, like the BHP. I would imagine it would be "easier" to do than the Pathfinder, but I just wanted to be sure if something like this could work. Or can a P226 slide fit onto a P228/P229 frame, albeit with some work?
