Latley I've read people refering to their Sig P220 as a "P220A". What's the "A"? Is that an official model designation by Sig?

I think there have actually been 3 P220 designs.
1. original style import with european heal type mag release
2. P220 with american style mag release
3. redesigned (slightly) grip and set up for conversion to DAO and new green slide spring for +p rounds.

I have the third type and it shoots like a target pistol and makes me wonder why guys spend thousands on 1911s other than being able to say they have.
If I am wrong in my definitions, please let me know too!

I know of only two types of Sig P220's; they
are the P220A and the P220E. The A is the
American version were the magazine release
is activated by the push of a button with
the thumb; the E is the European version
were the magazine release is located on
the butt of the gun. I am unfamiliar with
the re-designed version.
