+p in charterarms?

Hi guys im new to this great forum,I have had my ccw for about 2 months and have two guns a s&w 9mm and a older about mid 70s undercover .38. I carry the .38 alot more because of the size and now carry 110gr hydro-shoks, but worry about the stopping power of that round. I would like to carry +p rounds but have been told the gun is not rated for +p ammo and it would be hard to shoot with that ammo anyway. any help on this would be great. thanks:)

I have an old Charter Arms Undercover and would be hesitant to shoot +Ps in it. You would probably get by using them occassionally in self defense, but shooting enough to get proficient with it might trash the gun.

I don't recommend a steady diet of +P ammunition in any
small frame, .38 Special revolver. Over a period of time, a
steady diet of these will most definitely accelerate the
wear on these revolver's. Of all the small .38 Special
snubbies, only the Ruger and the all steel Colt D-frames
are O.K. with limited amount's of +P ammunition.

Besides, I think too much of my 1979-80 vintage Smith
& Wesson model 60 "Chief's Special", to subject it to
this kind'a treatment!

I have a small .38, ( 2" RG brand) and I only use the Federal 110Gr Hydra-Shok "Personal Defense Load" in it, the NON +p version. A heavier bullet weight makes that weapon too hard on the shooters hands, Also, the cylinder walls are thin, so that alone makes me not want to put the really hot stuff in there.

Have done it before in a CAU ... wouldn't recommend it though . . . just not worth the problems it may cause to the gun (or you!).

I carried a Charter Arms Undercover for many years in the 70's and shot a few rounds of +P ammo thru it before the frame/trigger pins walked out of it.I staked the pins in and then carried +P's for CCW only and used light reloads that had the same point of impact for occasional practice sessions.tom.

I think i would stay away from +P's in charter arms, the 110gr personal defense or the 125gr nyclad would be good choices,i think winchester makes a non +P silvertip,it's a 110gr i think?
