P-10.45 POS

Hello to all! I have been hanging around a couple of months enjoying TFL.Decided to finally join in!
I need help with a P-10.45.
I bought this used. It looked to be fired very little. I know why!!! I have tried shooting several different brands and weights of hollow points in this pistol with pitiful results!
Using either the factory 10 round mag, or the generic 10 rounder that came with it, I cannot get over 5 or 6 shots in a row without some sort of jam.
Yesterday I was using 3 different hollowpoint loads, (wish I would have recorded which ones), and had about 20 failures in 50 rounds.
Three were failure to eject,4 or 5 jammed part-way into the chamber. The rest nosedived into the bottom of the feed ramp.
I tried gripping the gun several different ways, and let my girlfriend shoot it also, trying to see if the change of grip would help. Same thing. Constant problems!!
I am pretty well fed up with this!!
Should I ditch this POS, or see if P-O will fix it??
BTW, I also had along an E.German Mak that I bought from AIMSURPLUS after reading all of the raves on TFL. It is finished very nicely. Looks nearly new. And yes, with the Russian ammo, in 4 different mags, it went thru 100 rounds perfectly!!
Ready to trade my P10.45 for 3 or 4 Maks, and not look back!!
Would appreciate any help you can give.

Dennie,

I had the same experience with one. I found that if I lubed the hell out of the slide rails I could get through 3 or 4 magazines without jamming.

I traded it in on and HK USP45 compact and never looked back.

Common problem. You could spend money to fix it,but, nothing is guarenteed there either. It brings to mind the old saying, cut your losses short an move on. good Luck.

Dennie,

Just a thought, but you might want to try breaking the pistol in with FMJ for a while. Some autos when new do not like JHP ammo until they are broken in a bit. My Kel-Tec was this way at first.

Only other sugestions would be a real good cleaning and healthy lube. Some pistols prefer to run wet in the oil department (my Beretta is like this).

By the way, where is a good place to go shooting in the Cincinnati area? I'll be up there later this year visiting a friend and would like to introduce him to pistol shooting.

Thanx for the replys. I want to like this pistol, so I will try running some hardball through it.

Joe, I have been in Cincinnati less than a year, so am only familiar with a place called Target World. Pretty nice indoor range.
Fourteen bucks for an hour shooting time.
I am very fortunate to know several people with large farms near me. This is where I shoot most.
Thanx again,

Dennie,
For the heck of it, try a few clips of SWC (semi-wad cutters) through it just to see if any of them fail. I shoot my p13-45 for target and use this ammo all the time and have never had a problem. Some hard ball ammo, however, has stuck but only one brand which I now don't use. I'll eventually load my own.
Let me know how it works. Plus, you'll get those really nice round holes in your target!

I had the same problem with a P14...regardless of magazines used, it couldn't feed jack squat reliably. Various forms of FMJ would even jam with extreme violence, not to mention hollow points that were visibly CRUSHED as they hung up on the feed ramp, which was mirror smooth BTW. Factory new mags didn't fix the problem. Constant cleaning & lubing didn't help. And its accuracy was worse than my Glock 23. Finally I said "screw that POS" and got a Kimber. Your problem might be fixable, but you probably just have a lemon you should get rid of with maximum speed.

Rather than sell the gun just yet, I guess if it was mine I'd send it to the factory service department, figuring that the cost of shipping would be worth the chance of getting the gun to work. I always lose money when I sell a gun!

If you do decide to sell it, e-mail me with a price please. My friendly local gunsmith is a wizard with Paras (and all 1911 variants).

Funny. That is the only place I know of up there also. I usually stay in the Motel 6 just down the road from there when I visit. The reason I was asking is because I thought Target World's prices seemed a bit over the top. Of course, if they are the only game in town they can ask whatever they want and get it. :)

Good luck with the Para-Ord. The suggestion of sending it to the manufacturer is a good one if the problem continues. Will certainly cost you less in shipping than what you will lose if you sell it.
