Like many of you, I have a factory refurbished HK P7M8 with the oft lamented "purple" slide. I had planned on sending it off for refinishing, but decided instead on "experimenting" with a little Brownell's oxpho-blue to see if it might darken the color. Well, I'm very pleasantly surprised with the results. After just a few applications, the slide is significantly darker. It now looks like the slightly holster-worn blue of many of my other guns, and matches the frame color nicely. In fact, I'm so impressed that I don't think I'm going to have it refinished professionally. I'm going to give it a few more applications of oxpho-blue and assess the results again. I can't speak for durability just yet, of course. But for those out there with the "purple" P7's, you may want to give the oxpho-blue a try. It certainly can't hurt if, like me, you have been planning on having it refinished anyway. I'll post back soon with any further findings.
