Overnight Rust - glue or fabric in case?

I picked up some interesting rifles in an estate sale and made custom cases for them. The idea was to have an interesting case to match the rifle. It is not for long term storage but I got instant rust overnight where the fabric touched the metal.

I used foam and white craft glue with fabric to create a snug fit for the guns inside a wooded case. My guess is that moisture from the glue drying caused it but I want to know if anything else might be coming into play.

It's impossible to know the precise problem without knowing what kind of fabrics and chemicals were involved. Even then, it probably won't be easy since not many people have a thorough understanding of the science involved.

You are correct in your assumption that some substances are unwise choices for fabricating gun cases.

My gut feel is that there's more going on than just the moisture from the glue. First of all, that shouldn't be a lot of moisture, second, I would expect the rust to show up on more than just the surfaces that touched the fabric, and third, I wouldn't expect the gun to rust that fast, especially if it were properly maintained with a very light sheen of oil protecting the blueing.

These days you can find almost any chemical in fabrics .
If you put a cold gun into a moist case and close it you can easily cause condensation and rust.
