Over/under info needed please.

A while back I picked up an over/under 12 ga that had a good solid feel. It is a valmet. Does anyone have any experience with valmets? It has a curious lock up where a sleeve? slides over the barrels
Just curious.

Here's the little I know. Valmet was a Finnish firearms manufacturer that went belly-up in the 1980's. The Valmet 412 was a highly regarded shotgun back in the day. The locking mechanism is the same as the Kreighoff, both of which are copies of the old Remington Model 32. The Rem Model 32 is now considered by many to be one of the best firearms ever made but it started production early in the Great Depression and was discontinued by Remington after a few years of poor sales.

Sounds like you got a good gun. Just be aware that spare parts will probably be hard to come by if something breaks.

The ownership has moved around some but parts, I believe, can still be had with a little work. I have one that I have shot for several years and its very dependable.

Thank you gentlmen. this particular shotgun is in excelent condition, but it has absolutly nothing that I can identify it by except the valmet logo. No model #'s, no choke identifier (it is fixed chokes), not anything. My plans are to keep it and shoot it some along with my pump remingtons.
