Over under help...CZ or Charles Daly?

OK, I am looking to pick up a decent over under to shoot some pigeons with, as well as maybe do some upland unting. I am not a competitive shooter, so I don't shoot round counts in the millions....but I do like to shoot and want something that will hold up well enough.

I have enough money in the budget to do either a CZ canvasback, CZ woodcock, or one of the Charles Daly NRA Diamond series Over Unders (lifetime warranty?). I may (and I stress may) be able to squeeze enough cash for a weatherby upland 12 orion....but I don't know if it is worth it.

Also, what about Emilio Rizzini

Which would you recommend and why?

IIRC, besides CZ being made in Turkey, Daly is as well. E. Rizzini married one of the Fausti Stefano sisters and the companies are combined. They make a nice price-point Italian gun. The general consensus seems to be that quality on the Turkish guns is spotty at best. If those were my choices, I would opt for the Rizzini. Otherwise, look for a used Weatherby that was made in Japan, a used SKB (same company that made the Weatherby). For around $1500 to $1700, I have seen used Belgian Browning Superposeds (grade I), and Japanese Browning, and basic Beretta 68X series - all are good guns and will last a long time

+ 1 on what Oneounce said - although I don't know which families intermarried .... in general the guns made in Turkey are a crapshoot - and you may or may not get a gun that will hold up for 5 - 10 years...

The entry price for decent O/U's is well established with the entry level Brownings ( like the Lightning Cirori series ) and Beretta's field guns.

If the Browning or Beretta are not in your price range / I would suggest you look over the offerings from Ruger ( although it may be made in Turkey these days too - not sure ) - but I think you'll have a better chance of getting a decent gun.

I may be wrong, but the The Daly diamond series were made in Italy (by Marocchi I think) and are no longer offered (can get one on closeout).

The only thing with Daly's is that they have been made by just about everyone at one time or another. Some of have been absolute "Best" gun quality and some have been absolute "boat paddle" quality. Researching which model was made where and when is most advisable

not to sidetrack the thread, but...

Charlies Daly,

I bought one of the "Liberty II" 24" 12ga couch guns made by Akkar and imported by KBI(you guys) - would you all still carry the external hammers as replacement parts??

Right now CZ is the one selling what used to be the Liberty II shotgun..
