Over crimped?

Do these look over crimped?
They measure .467 at case mouth.

FWIW, don't "crimp" any semi-auto cartridges. Just use your taper crimp die to remove any flare in the case mouth. I believe the dimension for the case mouth is .471" (although I don't remember ever measuring a 45 ACP "crimp"...).

I read all this Internet Wisdom about the .45 ACP SWC At 1.250" OAL with the crimp die used only to "remove any flare."

Then I got a box of Black Hills ammo, made for reliable function so as to uphold their reputation. I saw it had a shorter OAL, about 1.240", and a definite taper crimp. One gun that was erratic with the Internet Standard Load was very dependable with the Black Hills. So I adjusted my reloads to match, and they shot better, too. I don't think I have had a misfeed since the change. Accuracy is as good.

I'm loading 185 lswc over 4.5 grains of Titegroup. Was having problems with rounds passing the "plunk" test with my Sig Nightmare. I have read that Sigs have tight chambers, but I'm not sure that is the issue.
These rounds were loaded to 1.16 OAL

Removing any flare in the case is a crimp. Use just enough to hold the bullet in place. Your's are a tick heavy, but not excessive.
1.16" OAL is still too long.

whether I'm loading 9mm, .45acp for my autos or .223 in my AR, they all get a medium/light crimp with the Lee FC die. never have had a problem with any.

I like it for my semi autos. You will find its probably the most polarizing item you can buy though. Lots of folks swear by it, while just as many hate it.

That’s is the beauty of loading your own ammunition, you can decide to use it or not.

I might have to invest in a factory crimp die.

All my crimp dies (and all the others) came from somebody's factory...

I believe that "factory crimp die" is a LEE brand name for one of their products. I have taper crimp dies from RCBS and one from Dillon, and don't have the Lee FCD. They aren't all the same...

The seating die should remove the flare from the case mouth. And generally this is enough for the ammo to function in nearly everything. However, I have found that a LIGHT taper crimp improved the feed function in my guns.

And by light, I mean just enough of a kiss on the case to feel. (I don't have dimension specs, sorry)
