Over 10,000 fugitives apprehended

Howdy,
Did anyone else read where US Marshals and other federal, state and local agencies were able to apprehend over 10,000 fugitives. Many of these BG's were serious threats to the general public at whole. I am very greatful for the vast number of arrests , but it really makes me concerned as to how many more BG's there are out there. The 10,000 + arrests were made within one week under operation FALON. The usmarshal.gov website has more details to the specifics of the operation. Make sure to check out some of the highlight arrests, one was made way too close to home for me.
Really makes me think about getting my CCW sooner than expected.

So they saved up the arrests so they could make them all at once and get publicity on the national news because its national crime victim week?????

They overburdened the courts, and local detention centers becuase all of these folks will have to be processed and held at once.

What about the crimes they may have been commiting last week, while law enforcement was saving these up????

Sorry if I dont seem greatful or impressed but rather than saving these up for a big publicity stunt/ photo op. they should have been arresting these folks as soon as they discovered their wherabouts.

JMHO YMMV

nice to have them in custody

does sound a little like a publicity stunt. Better to have them captured sooner rather than later for a press release.

Now, so that we can unburden the courts and jails, we need a good old fashioned hangin' judge :D

They didn't stop getting bad guys while they were building up to this. It was in addition to what they have been doing. (or so they claim). They said that they cannot do this all the time because it costs too much money for them and the local LEO that they planned this with. I think that they admit they are looking for publicity (but not in those words IIR) in order to bring attention to what they could do if they had the proper funding.

It may be pulling the wool over my eyes, but I do "feel" a little safer.

I know they have to prioritize with money ... but certainly the rapists, child molestsors and violent criminals should have been highest on the list. If even one of these was held back instead of the "normal" fugities they apprehend, that would really tick me off.

They "claim" that it takes a lot of planning to apprehend them safely???? I can understand that but how many people's safety was violated by these BG while they were planning for theirs. So I agree.

Forgot to mention that the majority of those criminals were wanted for just a drug crime. They did claim that all of the ones they arrested had violent records though.

sounds like a photo op

during budget time.
Great, give them a bigger budget, and while they're at it build more prisons to house them (or tent cities like in Arizona, whatever). Get them incarcerated, keep them there. There's no point rounding them up if they're not going to stay locked up. It's a waste of tax dollars otherwise.
We've got a huge, I mean VAST desert in west Utah along the Nevada border. Great location for a new Federal prison. Nothing for miles around but snakes, lizards, wild mustangs and antelope. Build it there.

Oh yeah, one more thing, a good hangin' judge!

It ALWAYS is financial! I have heard this whine from so many PDs. They can't catch speeders without radar equipment and OT. They can't catch DUIs without OT. They can't serve warrants without OT. They can't enforce drug laws without OT. All of the federally funded OT, equipment grants and federally funded vest purchases are carrots at the end of a stick. We will give your agency a big bunch of carrots IF you will help us look good on TV for 5 minutes. Strictly political and a totally arranged publicity event. I suggest that the funds would have been better spent in placing more bodies on the street. What has become of the Police Corps?
