Let's do a bit of analysis here. Portions of Sarah Brady's comments are quotated; my reply follows:
"Assault weapons are not just "ugly guns.""
I'm sure HCI employees are not just ugly, over-privileged middle-aged women with a warped agenda. Perhaps they are.
"Semi-automatic hunting rifles are designed to be fired from the shoulder and depend on the accurate shooting of one bullet at a time."
Not all 'hunting rifles', as it were, are designed to be fired in a semi-automatic fashion.
"Semi-automatic assault weapons are designed to be spray-fired from the hip and are designed to maximize death and injury from a very rapid rate of fire."
Semi-automatic weapons, by definition, are not capable of "spray fir(ing)". I've not yet seen anyone attempt to operate any firearm whilst holding it near or against their hip.
"Assault weapons are designed with military features such as silencers, folding stocks, flash suppressors, barrel shrouds and bayonets, which are ludicrously unsuited for civilian use."
Sport-utility vehicles are designed with features such as large tires, brush guards, running lights, and oversized motors with excessive fuel consumption characteristics. Since many SUVs never see so much as a gravel driveway, they are 'ludicrously unsuited' (who the hell taught you to write??) by the majority of licensed drivers. Be very careful when making value judgements, Ms. Brady.
"Handgun Control supported and saw the successful passage of California's new assault weapon law..."
...which, tragically, imposed restrictions on many firearms based purely on aesthetics. Yours was a fallacious solution looking for a non-existant problem.
