Out of state Purchase

I live in Kalifornia. Let's say I take a trip to AZ, and want to buy a rifle from an FFL. The rifle is 100% Kalifornia legal. Would I be able to buy the rifle in AZ, and bring it back to Kalifornia without having to transfer it?

I've heard different things from different people, would be much appreciated if someone could enlighten me on this issue. Thanks alot - Jim

To do it all nice and legal, you need to have the FFL in Arizona send the gun to an FFL in California. Then the FFL in California will run the paperwork on you and you get your gun after 10 or 15 days, just as if you bought it in California to begin with.

This is for long guns ONLY! Hand guns cannot be purchased through an FFL except in the state of residence.

To purchase, by an out of shooter, the selling FFL must comply with the rules of the state of residence of the PURCHASER. If Kalifornian, must be a 15 (?) day waiting period.

If the purchaser is from Illinois, he/she must produce a FOID card, then the FFL must ship to an FFL in IL! These laws are a real pain. Only the law abiding follow them.
