Hey guys im going to drive to Atl and pick up two mossberg shotguns (500, 590) from my brother. He bought them in his name and there registered to him. I live in Commifornia. When i drive home with these how do i register them in my name and make it all legit?? Isn't there some law that says your dad can give you a gun but not your brother?? can i just say that my brother gave them to my dad and then my dad gave them to me?? Any info on this would be great.

Thanks guys

Hope you haven't left yet...

You cannot legally get the guns from your brother (or anyone for that matter) in GA and drive them to CA and transfer ownership to yourself. The firearms have to go through an FFL in your home state who will run you through NICS and then transfer them to you.

Do a little digging around the ATF site: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/legal/interstate.htm and the CA AG site: http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/ for more information.

Another good site is the NRA Federal Gun Laws page: http://www.nraila.org/GunLaws/FederalGunLaws.aspx?ID=59

Good luck! :)
