Looks like some kind of sawed off rifle with a pistol grip. the moron isn't a shooter, notice his right elbow is bent allowing no chance of absorbing the recoil with his back so he takes it in his face, So sad, to bad. I say rifle because of the forearm on the barrel. Experiment gone bad just the way it should have.
 
It looks like the new HAHAHAHA from HAHAHAHAHAHA & HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

That or some kind of rifle with the butt chopped off in a vain attempt to make it "tactical." It looks like they started with a fairly light rifle to begin with.
 
There's no audio. I think he's saying "Hey Ya'll, hold my beer and watch this,..",

Looks like an operator error issue when it hit him. (I D 10 T malfunction). Having shot very light single barrel 12 gauges cut to legal size with no stock, it wasn't that tough to hold on to.
 
From the looks of things not only did he suffer a slight concussion, he also broke his thumb and orbit with just one shot.... Dummazzzzz...
 
Looks like a spear-gun to me... I think I can make out the elastic band flopping around at the end after he takes the shot.

Greg I think your onto something. It would explain the lanyard as well. But I don't think it's the rubber band. It looks more like the cord that holds the spear to the gun. And due to recoil I'd say it's more likely CO2 as I don't remember rubber band powered ones having any where near that much recoil.
 
I see what you mean by the cord but I think it's a sling. Look at the bush on the hill react, that was no spear and I never felt a spear gun recoil like that.
 
Watch the YouTube video LarryFlew links to, Old Grump. It shows the whole sequence with sound. It is indeed a spear gun. As for the recoil, remember, they're designed to be fired under water.
