Apologies to the late Siskel and current Ebert.
For those of you who haven't tried this nifty little system, I highly recommend it. The #211 rifle and pistol cleaning kit is contained in a round Cordura zippered pouch only 4" in diameter and 2" deep.
The "rods" are actually thick vinyl covered stranded cable (one for pistol, one for rifle) with female threads at both end to accept loop, brass bore brushes and handle or obstruction removers (all included).
The mfr. web site is at http://www.otisgun.com for description, etc.
I've known about these kits for a couple of years, but already had Dewey and Boretex rods... loops, jags, brushes, etc.
I always clean breech to muzzle, but when I got my Garand I couldn't do that without field stripping. (M1A owners also take note, here
Went to the range last weekend and that little kit was used by my wife and I to clean our handguns (short "rod") in two different calibers and then on the rifle range to clean Big Dog (Garand) after the proceedings.
Forget the gimmicky patches Otis includes. Regular size # patches work fine.
Price at Brownells for the kit is $39.95 (less than $30.00 after my C&R discount).
Well worth the initial investment, and I am NOT affiliated with Otis, receive no monies from them, IMO, YMMV, etc.
