Other than the Savage HogHunter

Mossberg makes a .223, threaded barrel bolt action, which also accepts AR magazines. Their website indicates that a model without iron sights is available.

Personally, I like the idea of iron sights. It's nice to have some sort of back-up in case your scope gets damaged.

I don't know how good the mossberg is, but gun test magazine reviewed a mossberg bolt action in the feb 13 issue and gave it an A- rating.

Get what you want and have the barrel threaded. The gunsmith I use charges me $100 for threading the barrel and installing the brake that he supplies. I am guessing threading the barrel would cost $25.

Mossberg rifles are pretty decent IMO. Quality is just as good or better than their shotguns. Just curious - why a threaded barrel, if its OK to ask?

Who makes a good bolt in .223 with a threaded barrel. I'm not crazy about the iron sights on the Savage

A screwdriver and some replacement filler screws will solve that problem for you.
