Other Savages?

I've heard great things about the long range variants (10 and 110 models). How about the sporter models? I am looking at the Rem 700 ADL, but would entertain a Savage if the quality is there.

11FL

I have the model 11FL, which is their left-handed 22" sporter weight barrel in 7-08 Rem in the synthetic stock. The stock is sorta flimsy, so I glass-bedded it and milled out some of the bulkheads in the forend and glassbed in it some graphite tubes, like tips of fishing rods. That and the bedding helped. Plus I have a Sharp Shooter Supply trigger in it.

But the best thing is it'll shoot sub-MOA with loads it likes :D!! Using Hornady's Light Magnums (140grain 7mm @ 300 FPS) my best group is 3-shots in a tight cloverleaf, all touching. My worst with that load is about 3/4" ... the rifle likes 'em so much I stopped trying to relaod for it.

FWIW it's my 3rd Savage and all have been the best shooters I own. Not the prettiest, but after the winter I'll put it into a custom laminated stock by Fred Wenig @ www.wenig.com[/b], that'll run me ~...and a looker!! Tight groups, regards. Lefty
